Satellite Event: A Multispectral Projector for Advanced Vision Science

Come and learn about our new 4-primary ‘multispectral’ projection system for isolating photoreceptor types. We will discuss silent substitution protocols, limitations of conventional research displays, and technical challenges of building a custom solution for advanced research paradigms. Guest speaker Dr. Pablo Barrionuevo (UNT – CONICET, Justus-Liebig Universitat Giessen), will present some of his research using a multispectral display.

We will also be presenting a methods poster on our multispectral projector as part of the poster session on Color, Light and Materials: Neural mechanisms, models, disorders. Come and speak with VPixx staff scientists Dr. Jonathan Tong and Dr. Lindsey Fraser on the technical challenges of 4+ primary displays and how these displays, particularly our PROPixx multispectral projector, can be used to unlock new research protocols in vision science.
Demo Night: Magic Metamers and Saccadic Suppression, Hidden in Plain Sight

Can visual information be hidden in plain sight? For the first time, we use the multispectral PROPixx projector to display a secret message hidden in a uniform field using chromatic metamers. Look through a filter to reveal the hidden message!
Back by popular demand, the PROPixx 1440Hz projector demonstrates visual processing during saccades. We present a word which is only visible during eye movements. The player with the fastest word sighting wins a drink ticket!
